The 1 Skill Needed to become an Irreplaceable Man

And like any high-order skill it has many sub-skills.

Since the NBA Finals are happening right now, I’ll use basketball as a metaphor. The goal of this piece is to explain how Masculinity itself is a skill that must be developed. I use the term Irreplaceable Man to represent the identity of a man who has mastered masculinity.

A Metaphor: Comparing Basketball to Masculinity
Basketball and Masculinity are both high-level skills. By that I mean they have lots of sub-skills and subtle aspects of mastery that can be practiced, refined, honed.

Let’s take a look at what goes into making a great basketball player and what goes into making an Irreplaceable Man.

A great Basketball Player brings a sense of ease to his play. He always seems to know what to do next. He is an asset to his team.

An Irreplaceable Man brings a sense of ease to his actions and interactions. He seems to know what’s right and what to do next to get the outcome he is after. He is an asset to his community.

A great Basketball Player is able to run, shoot, dribble, pass, jump, play defense, set screens, make free throws, learn and execute plays and maintain his court vision. And more. He doesn’t rely too heavily…
